Ferrari was absolutely brilliant in the opening race of the F1 season at Australia and looks like trend will continue at Malaysia too after Felipe Massa topped in the first free practice session. To be precise, Massa recorded a fastest lap of 1 minute 34.792 seconds for the 5.543-kilometre circuit, incidentally 0.248 seconds faster than defending world champion Fernando Alonso in a McLaren-Mercedes.
Though, Alonso is driving superb but Mclaren is not giving him impetus both in term of speed as well as control. This can ruin the chances of Alonso in upcoming races but for the time being he may be confident about his chances, as there is no Michel Schumacher to fight with.
Coming back to the free practise session, Alonso’s team-mate Lewis Hamilton was quite impressive as he recorded the third quickest followed by Australian GP winner Kimi Raikkonen in the Ferrari. Though, Kimi is still not too sure about his engine.
